Flamingo
Flamingo Beach is located in the Guanacaste north pacific coast of Costa Rica. Considered by many as one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, Flamingo boasts a stunning white sand beach with pristine clear blue waters. This area is also known for its sport fishing , beautiful hotels, condos and private residences overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Visitors can enjoy at Flamingo Beach a wide variety of water sports such as sea kayaking, snorkeling or jet skiing. Other adventure activities in the area include horseback riding tours, sunset cruises or ATV adventures, all of which can be coordinated through Visit Costa Rica Hotels.  The area is home also for some of the best world class sport fishing. An international sailfish tournament is held every year in July sponsored by the Costa Rican Amateur Fishermen´s club.  Despite its size, Flamingo Beach offer visitors as well an active nightlife with clubs, bars and casino.

Highlights

Deep Sea Fishing
The Flamingo Bay area is one of the most important locations for deep sea fishing in Costa Rica.  The all-time tournament record of 1691 billfish releases by 120 anglers in four days was established in Costa Rica some years ago during the International Sailfish Tournament which took place in Flamingo area. There has been more than 70 current IGFA world record fish from Costa Rica waters including 17 all-tackle marks.

Action is available anywhere when leaving from Flamingo, either heading to the north near to Bat Islands, to the south toward the Nicoya Peninsula coast or straight out to sea in a beeline toward Japan; it just depends on where the billfish happens to be. Flamingo area is one of the top places in the tropics for marlin and sailfish.  Other catches include big tuna, yellow fin tuna, wahoo and dorado.  Chartered boats can be easily coordinated through Visit Costa Rica hotels. When departing on fishing expedition please be aware that catch and release is practiced on all tours.
